Welcome to One Buddhist View
Dear Reader
This is the Substack page of Ācāry Malcolm Smith, translator of classical Tibetan Literature and teacher of Buddhism.
A little about me. I formally entered Buddhist training in 1989, training under Khenpo Migmar Tseten, Buddhist chaplain at Harvard, my long-term mentor and teacher.
I spent three and a half years in a solitary retreat between 1993 and 1997. I was granted the title ācārya in 2004 by Khenpo Migmar Tseten. My primary gurus are HH Sakya Trichen, the late Chögyal Namkhai Norbu (1938-2018), and the late Kunzang Dechen Lingpa (1928—2006).
I earned a degree in the classical medical system of Tibet (Shang Shung Insitute, Qinghai Shool of Tibetan Medicine, 2005-2009) and did a clinical internship in Tibet (2009), and have also done clinical studies in Indian Ayurveda (2012). I have several translations in print, published by Wisdom Publications and Shambhala.
My primary work involves translating little-known great classics from the Great Perfection tradition and also literature from the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism. My primary Buddhist interests are Vajrayāna, however all schools of traditional Buddhism are of interest to me.
One Buddhist View presents my thoughts about Buddhism, current events, and any other concerns I may choose to voice.
Donations through subscriptions are appreciated, but there is no paywall.
Thank you for joining me,
Malcolm
